Pastor’s Weekly Reflection


September 20, 2026

Dear Most Holy Trinity Family:

Catholic Social Teaching upholds the dignity of work and the rights of workers. In today’s Gospel we hear the parable about workers who are waiting to be hired, but for different reasons, they were not. I am not sure what those reasons may have been, but perhaps they were experiencing discrimination, just as many workers do today because of their age, a disability, or due to artificial intelligence leaving many people out of the labor force. In the parable, at the end of the day, the landowner, God in this case, notices them, and at the last hour of the day, hires them for one hour for a wage that seems unfair to the other workers because they were hired in the first hour and labored for the entire day.

We have met with many of you to ask you to consider ways of supporting Sowing Seeds of Faith. If we have not met with you as yet, do not worry, we will have an opportunity to do so in the upcoming weeks and months. I understand that the financial goal of the campaign may feel discouraging and disappointing for many of you. But let us not focus so much on the money itself because when money becomes the end goal, and the idol of our worship, we are being led away from the purpose of the Sowing Seeds of Faith.
